Can someone explain to me why male characters are turning up pregnant in fictional stories?

I’ve been reading through some stories people have written, both in fanfic and original, and it alarms me that so many male characters have suddenly become pregnant as a result of being with their same-sex lover.

What I want to know (and possibly understand) is the biology behind this phenomenon. How does it work? Is their some strange and magical fiction-based uterus?
